Part-time Retail Assistant (5.5-12 hrs/wk, Sundays required)
Neighborly is looking for a part-time retail assistant in our brick and mortar retail shop to cover our Sunday hours and some Saturday afternoon hours in December. The job candidate must be up to the challenge of providing excellent customer service and learning the details about our unique products and vendors.
This is a paid hourly position to start as soon as possible. This is a temporary position through early 2018 with the possibility to become permanent based on job performance.
Required hours are Sundays 11a-5:30p and must include 2 of the following 3 Sundays that fall around the holidays of 11/26, 12/24 (10a-3p), 12/31 (11a-4p). In December, additional hours will be needed on Saturday afternoons for 3-4 hours, although every Saturday is not a requirement.
Additional hours during the weekday evenings may be possible, based on your availability.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in retail or merchandising, and an interest in independently made products, home goods, furniture, and/or the arts in general and will excel in a small business working environment. They are reliable, demonstrate a stellar attitude when providing customer service, feel comfortable wearing many hats, be a quick learner, be very organized and pay close attention to details.
This position will be a direct assistant to the shop manager and is an integral asset to our team of 3 employees. It offers the opportunity to be involved in the many facets of our business, besides the tasks listed below. The position will specifically be expected to:
> Offer stellar customer service, greeting customers, assisting them with product information and recommendations, provide an easy and pleasant shopping and checkout experience.
> Learn and become a wizard at using our POS system, Shopify, to checkout customers, perform returns, lookup products and inventory, generate PO’s, add new products, and process webshop orders.
> Learn in detail about our products, where and how they’re made and who they’re made by.
> Receive product; unpack and check products for damage or defects, check quantities received against PO or invoice, receive inventory in POS, tag and prep for display, add to floor or put in storage as needed, clean up and discard of shipping materials. Follow up with shop manager or vendor with any issues.
> Communicate with vendors as needed to follow up on orders, damages, etc.
> Maintain shop to be clean and orderly with basic tasks like sweeping, cleaning floor, dusting shelves, removing trash and recycling, etc,
> Restock shelves when items sell, similarly, replace artwork on wall as needed.
> Establish checks to notify shop manager when inventory of a product is low.
> Restock supplies in checkout area, assist with inventorying and ordering office supplies.
> Staff special events, based on availability.
